Kerinci is a region that has a cultural heritage that defines the daily lives of the community, from Kerinci Hilir to Kerinci Mudik. This heritage consists of language, culture, and traditions such as the Parno Adat tradition. This tradition is more than just a ceremonial activity, but a manifestation of the deep values of local identity and sacred principles. The research aims to explore the philosophical bases of the Parno Adat tradition in Koto Payang Village, Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. It reveals the latent complexity of a cultural phenomenon that has received low attention from outside the community. This study represents qualitative research in the communication ethnography field. The data was collected by interviews with leading local figures in the tradition. Findings show that Parno Adat in Koto Payang contains philosophical meanings expressed with oral traditions, including poetry, pantun, and metaphors in different local languages. Parno Adat also represents cultural beliefs and adat science that affects the ethical and moral principles of the community. The tradition's preservation is guarded by the “Sekao Tigo Takah,” a group of adat leaders that are responsible for securing strict adherence to adat rules.
